Puppies.com Listing Guidelines

We've created these Listing Guidelines to help provide buyers with clear and detailed information about your dogs. By following them, you'll create standout listings, build trust with buyers, and help find loving forever homes for your pups. Be sure to check out our Account Guidelines, too!

  1. “Non-Puppy” listings (i.e., listings that do not advertise a dog for sale but promote services or requests) are prohibited. This includes (but is not limited to) the following:
    1. Stud Service listings, which promote breeding services.
    2. Want Ads, which are created in search of a specific type of dog.
    3. Beware” listings, created to air grievances with another individual.
  2. “Planned Breeding” listings (i.e. listings created to advertise an upcoming breeding which has not taken place) are prohibited.
    1. However, “Unborn Litter” listings are permitted, provided that 1) the breeding has been confirmed, and 2) the expected birth date falls within 60 days and is posted within the “birth date” section of the listing.
    2. A single "Unborn Litter" listing is permitted per upcoming litter. Once the litter is born, separate listings should be created for each individual dog.
  3. “Duplicate Listings” are prohibited. Whether for a single dog or an unborn litter, each dog or litter can only be listed once, through one account.
  4. "Multiple Puppy" Listings (advertising more than one born puppy in a single listing) are prohibited—each puppy must be listed individually.
    1. A litter can be listed collectively before birth, but once born, each puppy must have its own listing.
    2. Each listing title should refer to a specific puppy. If unnamed, use a placeholder (e.g., “Dog 1” or “Green Collar”).
    3. Listing descriptions may include information about the litter, but should ideally include information about the specific dog the listing advertises.
    4. Listings can include photos of the Sire, Dam, and littermates, but the primary image should feature the advertised puppy to avoid confusion.
  5. “Sold Listings” are prohibited. Each “For Sale” listing must advertise a single dog which is still available for sale.
    1. If a dog has been spoken for but the transaction hasn’t been finalized, the listing should be marked as “On Hold”. If the dog has been fully sold, the listing should be marked as “Sold”. Instructions for marking listings "On Hold" or "Sold" are available here
  6. “Wolf Hybrid” listings are prohibited. At this time, we do not permit wolf hybrids (i.e. dogs with any wolf/timberwolf content)
  7. Accurate breed information is required. We ask that sellers place each listing into the breed category/categories which accurately reflects the breed of the dog.
    1. If we offer a single breed category which accurately reflects the breed of the dog, that breed will need to be provided in the “Breed” field within the listing.
    2. For mixed breeds, both parent breeds must be included in the listing. Enter one breed in the "Breed" field and the other in the "Mixed With" field. Example: for an English Bulldog/Beagle mix, list one breed in the “Breed” section and the other in “Mixed With.”
  8. All advertised dogs must be located in the United States or in US territories. Due to a number of factors, Puppies.com has recently made the decision to only permit Sellers from the United States to list puppies for sale.
